Ford Trade-In Values

The Ford Motor Company is known as the world's fourth largest automobile manufacturer today. Based out of Michigan, it commenced operations in the early 1900's and has progressed over the years to include other lines of automobiles including the Lincoln and Mercury brands. International holdings such as Aston Martin and Volvo Cars of Sweden are other interests of the Ford Company. The environmental focus of Ford as a corporation has both positive and negative feedback from the public, where pollution from plants and emissions from vehicles have caused a stir, while Ford has created more fuel-efficient vehicles to eliminate smog-forming by-products of many cars and trucks over the years.

The value and depreciation of a Ford automobile can range anywhere from average to below average, depending on the exact model you are looking to purchase or try to sell as a pre-owned vehicle. Anywhere from over $2,000 up to $8,000 per year is quite common for the depreciation of any number of Ford vehicles and can hinder your decision for a pre-owned car or truck based on the resale value alone. For some, a lower resale value can be a positive aspect if you are not looking to spend a large amount of money on a vehicle that is under 10 years old. Even some Ford cars and trucks that do not hold their value well are still perfectly safe and handle well on the road, providing a cheaper alternative to more expensive pre-owned vehicles.

Many pre-owned vehicles will have typically run out of the original manufacturer's warranty, but you may be able to find some used automobiles that will still have an extended warranty in place on them. Be sure to ask the seller if there is any unused warranty left on the vehicle, original or extended in the case that something may happen later. If you are trying to sell your Ford automobile and there is still warranty left on your model, use that as a selling feature for any prospective buyers. A vehicle that is covered under warranty is an added bonus for those looking at purchasing used automobiles.

Many of the regular maintenance and repairs on Ford vehicles can be relatively affordable, as compared to foreign vehicles on the market today. The availability of replacement parts and the ease of repairs make the Ford vehicles more attractive as a purchase for those consumers that are looking for domestic vehicles. For some prospective buyers, a Ford vehicle can be easy to complete work on themselves rather than having to take it into a repair shop each time something is wrong with the automobile. These 'Back-yard mechanics' may find that owning a Ford is more cost-effective than a higher-priced alternative. If there are any previous repairs that your Ford has had completed in the past, be sure to include these documents for any prospective buyers to help eliminate any questions of reliability or lifespan of component parts. If it is a Ford vehicle you are looking to purchase, remember to ask for any maintenance or repair records to be sure you know exactly what you are purchasing.
